The Krewe of Lyonesse, Children's Mardi Gras Krewe of Baton Rouge, was established in 1996 with the intent of providing a wholesome atmosphere wherein children and their families could experience Mardi Gras.
The name Lyonnesse comes from the Story of Lyonnesse, an island nation once situated in the neighborhood of the Sicily Isles in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Cornwall. In the days when King Arthur ruled over England, Lyonnesse was a flourishing community which enjoyed a perfect year round climate. Click here for more of the Story of Lyonnesse.
Our Mission Statement: It is the mission of our Krewe of Lyonnesse, the Children's Mardi Gras Krewe of Baton Rouge, to celebrate family while enjoying the southern Louisiana tradition of Mardi Gras. We will work towards the enjoyment of all the children and families involved and strive to foster new friendships through social and service activities.
